[Sans had heeded So-Yeon's warning and steered clear of the battle. It was only after the sounds of combat -- of monster death -- ebbed that Sans emerges from the dark corner he'd chosen to wait out the violence. It was just in time to be ushered to his room along with the others.
Though not before he spots Finn, being ushered along like the rest of them. There shouldn't be anything remarkable about the kid. He's seen him before, around the ship and then town. Sans vaguely recalled seeing him strike out hard with a guard a few days back.
So why did his soul seem... different now? And not just different, familiar also... in a way that tugged at Sans' chest the same way it had when the siren first blared.

[ Finn had come back to the city walls with just enough time to redirect the guards in the opposite direction Yuryeong before being ushered back to his assigned room. He didn't see any sign of James or anyone else that had been injured. When he asked, it was the expected answer of them being sent to a medical area.
He was currently sitting on his bedroll with legs crossed, his knee bouncing in anxiety and his mind in several different directions. Despite everything, he was still wary of trusting her, but way more wary of believing the palace. He couldn't see any of the wounded, which wasn't a good sign, and they didn't tell him about any time he could see them.
He needed a plan, needed a way to get the wounded out before things went too badly, but he couldn't do it alone and he didn't know who to trust.
Which is when Sans message was sent to him. Not that he knew it was him, mind, but at least he had seen the guy around before. Hard to miss, really. ]

[ On this end, things probably don't sound very casual. It probably sounds more like a fight, what with the gasps and grunting and gunshots. Finn's been in worse, thank goodness, not that this is pleasant. ]

[ Admittedly, Finn freezes for a second. That sounds a little bit like an emergency but they're on the station. The worst thing that's supposed to happen on the station is when he miscounts while running inventory.

[ This is a plan that has most definitely been discussed at some point, at the very least vaguely mentioned, but anyway Jim texts both Finn and Blue to arrange to meet in the mess hall. When they get there, they'll find Jim sitting on a table with a thermos and three mugs on it, and a small box with a few crafts supplies, like paper, scissors, glue, coloring markers and pencils, among other things. ]

[On Christmas Eve, Finn will find a package outside his door. It arrives sometime in the early evening before the party. The wrapped box isn't too large, but he won't miss it when he steps out. There's a name tag with his name so he'll know that it's meant for him.

There are more people going for the whole self-sacrifice deal than he thought there would be, and it only worries him more, so many people to convince that anyone putting themselves at risk like that isn't going to help their odds, it'll just do them damage.

Overall they're nice messages, full of love and longing, a stark contrast to the real-time message that Finn gets now— ]

He really enjoyed getting Jim's... right up until everything went to hell. He's been dreading this ever since, more than a little heartbroken. Time to try and explain now, not that it's going to help. ]
