[ Finn's just happy to be here, to be honest, and he isn't sure what to do with all this fluffy energy except make more of it. ]

Ah. Yes, sugar is a type of carbohydrate, which among many other functions provides our bodies with energy. It's not advisable to overdo it, though, since it can be bad when consumed in excess, but the same can be said for nearly every food out there.
[ He nods to Blue. ] Who knows, maybe it'll help you with your energy levels too.
[funny how that kind of thing doesn't really seem to pop when it's in a generic amalgamation of...food-nutrients...or whatever dystopic, science-y nonsense was going on in Blue's world that canon didn't specify so we just collectively shrug at.
but like Sabriel said - food's more than just a process for sustaining a person bodily. it's a mix of art and social interaction that nurtures someone emotionally, too. something warm and sugar-sweet intermingling with the kindness and affection that comes on both sides of him...it's a different color of thread weaving this moment into his long memory.

[ There is more to food than just sustenance, that's true. Otherwise Humans in his galaxy would just consume quick rations and supplements. Jim likes these moments too, no matter if the food comes from a replicator or is prepared from scratch as is the case with this hot cocoa. It's the company that matters most, the exchange and appreciation. Even just getting to sit and chat idly while eating almost seems to make the food taste better.
To Blue's observation, he tilts his head, pondering. ]
Not, ah... necessarily? That might mean you have cavities or other injuries in your teeth. [ Do Mu get cavities?? Oh my God have they forgotten to teach Blue to brush his teeth. ] You should see a doctor about that. Dr. McCoy could probably help you with that fairly easily.
[ ... Finn expected an answer more like it makes me feel jittery or it's hard to get the taste out of my mouth. He did not expect tingling teeth. Thankfully, Jim catches it, too, but Finn has to wonder if it's something with Blue's species instead. Curious.
So, yeah, no. It's a bug, not a feature. Sorry, Blue. ]
[sorry, Finn - the jitters need a bit of time to sink in. for now, it's just the tingly feeling of sugar in a mouth that's just not used to it.
the suggestion that he might have yet another malady to bring before the doctor, though...Blue frowns. the incident with Newt was so much more important, but things really are piling up to the point where he's not going to be able to avoid this, will he.
[ Can't do him any harm to see a doctor regardless, the way Jim sees it. They all should be getting regular check-ups anyway, and in Blue's case, there might even be something that can be done to help with his general stamina and energy levels. Well, besides eating sugar, that is.
But then Jim of course has no idea that there's more to Blue's condition than just the side effects of his long sleep.
Either way, he won't push. It's a suggestion and he'll leave it at that, smiling at Blue as he turns towards the table to lift his own mug to his lips. ] Don't mention it.
[ Finn notices there is some disquiet there but that it's not really Jim's suggestion that does it. There's something else to it, something more.
Maybe because it's none of Finn's business, maybe because he doesn't want to know, he looks away from that thought and leans forward to press another gentle kiss to Blue's temple. ]
[the little gesture is soothing enough to pull Blue out of that worried wavelength for a while. old habits do die hard, don't they? Soldier Blue had a lot to worry about and little time to simply enjoy the company of others, so shifting to this is an adjustment.
