Yeah, well, pretty much all your clothes fit me and vice versa, so.

[ He played it off casually, but it wasn't wholly the truth.

He'd just never quite managed to let any of Finn's things go. He pushed the one that Finn was touching into the man's arms. ]

Go on. Try it on.

[ Finn happily took the suit with a little laugh, already walking off to drape it over a chair and pull his own jacket off. ]

It's been a while since I borrowed your clothes. Might have to make a habit of it again if we keep doing this.

Hey, anything that's mine is yours. You know that.

[ He sat down on the edge of the bed and started pulling his own shoes off, not at all bothered by the idea of stripping right down in front of Finn. Locker rooms, man. ]

[ Locker rooms. He gets it. Doesn't think twice about pulling his shirt off in front of Poe, scars on display. ]

I'm getting a little collection now, though, you know. Maybe I can finally start on paying you back.

I already stole basically all your clothes from before. Half this closet is basically yours.

[ He kicked his shoes away and then off came the pants before he reached for the tuxedo trousers. ]

But look, I'm not complaining.

[ How many more of Finn's things was Poe keeping from him? It wasn't an angry thought, though. He just laughed about it while pulling on the dress shirt. ]

Yeah, all right. Guess I'll just go back to robbing your closet.

Just avoid the skinny jeans, because I'm telling you now, those thighs of yours will not fit in them.

[ He pulled on the trousers, then shed his shirt to replace it. ]

[ Meanwhile, Finn was taking off his trousers to get the fancier ones on, trying to laugh and stay balanced at the same time. ]

Oh, please. Like you don't have some big legs, too.

No, see, for me it's all in the hips. And the butt.

[ His thighs were still nice but come on.

He started buttoning up the dress shirt and then tucked it into the trousers, before turning to grab the jacket and pausing - ]

Oh right, bow ties. Can't forget the bow ties.

[ Finn, shirt tucked into his pants and reaching for the jacket, was about to bring up some stupid retort about butts when he paused. ]

Bow ties? You're really not kidding about dressing up, huh? Where are they?

[ Because Finn definitely wanted to dress up. ]

[ Poe gestured at the dresser before he pulled on the jacket. ] Top drawer, box on the right. Not in the underwear.

[ Obviously.

He stretched out his arms, double checking the jacket, and- yeah. Looking good. Looking tough. ]

Just the black ones, I'm afraid, nothing special.

[ All of this was kind of special, but Finn wasn't expecting anything fancy. He just left his jacket on the chair and moved over to the drawer, finding the box easily.

Armed with his prizes, he shut the drawer back and walked over to Poe, handing one over. ]

I'm assuming you know what to do with them.

Yup.

[ He stepped over, reaching out to Finn’s throat to pop the collar up, then took one of the bow ties from the box and strung it around his neck. It was a weirdly intimate gesture that should have been - or maybe was - completely innocent, but Poe couldn’t help but feel a low, blooming warmth in his chest.

He’d missed this more than he even realized.

Carefully, he tied the bow tie, and then bent Finn’s collar back over it, tugging it a little to make sure it was straight and centered. ]

There you go. Lookin’ sharp.

[ Finn stood still, head raised when Poe suddenly decided to dress him. A little heat came to his cheeks when he finally realized what exactly they were doing. Going out dancing... as friends. Right.

This was a whole lot less awkward five seconds ago.

But Poe didn't seem to really notice the change once his handiwork was done, and Finn had been so caught up in his thoughts that he couldn't really return the favor. Probably for the best. ]

Thanks. [ He relaxed again, pulling out the other tie. ] I'm going to watch this time.

[ Poe was too focused on what he was doing to notice anything, and didn't seem all that bothered with throwing his own around his throat and doing it up. After all, he'd only done it because Finn didn't know how.

That was it.

He vaguely wondered if maybe he should call Archie and Bodhi and ask if they wanted to come, but a tiny selfish part of him wanted to keep this time to himself. Next time. Next time, he'd drag Archie with them, just to make sure he didn't do or say anything stupid.

Tonight, he just wanted to let Finn have a good time.

He finished tying the bow and then checked it in the mirror. ]

There we go. Not bad at all.

[ He shook out the sleeves, tugging them a little to make sure they sat straight, then grabbed two pairs of shoes from the closet. Once it was all together, he stepped back and held his arms out. ]

Well? Kind of a neat look, right?

[ Finn tried to focus on what Poe was doing, learning the motions instead of letting his mind wander. He also grabbed his jacket, getting his arms through and fixing the collar just when Poe turned to face him again. He smiled. Of course, he smiled. ]

Lookin' sharp.

[ That's what Poe had called it, rightfully. It wasn't as fancy as the outfits they had for the gala but Finn rather liked these. Perhaps a little more. The monotone look still wasn't his favorite, but these were so far removed from the Order that he could barely connect the two. ]

You should see what the girls get to wear. [ He said it with a laugh, grabbing his wallet out of his jeans and slipping it into his trousers instead, as he stepped towards the door.

He paused.

Damn it. Damn it, damn it, he had to at least put the offer on the table, even if he didn't want Finn to take it. So he added, quickly and casually: ]

Should we swing by Archie's and see if he wants to come out?

[ He did kind of like the dress on the girl in the pic-

Finn froze behind Poe, wondering if they gained some sort of telepathic connection or something. Not that they should invite Archie but that this felt... a bit too intimate without someone else tagging along. As much as Finn liked Archie a lot, he kind of wanted this to be just them.

But that was the whole problem, wasn't it? ]

Yeah, that's a good idea.

[ Poe sounded like he wanted him to come along, anyway. And besides, maybe Archie could use a break. ]

[ Damn it.

He responded with a smile, careful not to let any of the disappoint show on his face.

It'd be fine. Archie would get it. They'd probably in the end all enjoy it more together anyway. Keep it from getting weird.

Damn it. ]

Alright, let's go get him.

[ And before he could change his mind he just strode out of the room toward the door of the unit. ]

[ Poe seemed excited about it, so...

Yeah, okay. This was all right. Archie was a lot of fun. The more, the merrier. Finn was liking the idea more and more by the second.

He should have been totally on board from the start, though.

Finn followed after Poe quietly, a little scared to speak in case he ruined everything. ]

He could probably use some time to get out anyway.

Yeah, he needs to get out, be with his friends. It'll be fun.

[ And not at all like he was pulling Archie in to be a chaperone.

But honestly? He kind of needed to. He could feel he was treading dangerous ground here, but he still wanted to hang out with Finn and make him happy. So maybe this was safer.

He marched up to Archie's door and pounded on it for about .2 seconds before just letting himself in. ]

Yo, Arch! Let's go dancing!

[when he opens the door, he is mercifully fully clothed. stupid gym rat "suns out guns out" tshirt and basketball shorts. holding a bottle of something neon blue.

he shrugs a shoulder and saunters out, still holding the bottle.]

Sure.

[doesn't seem to be interested in changing, despite the two men in tuxedos before him...]

[ Oh, that was easy. And Finn smiles wide despite his earlier problems with it. Archie's outfit certainly made it better. ]

Not worried about being overdressed?

They’ve got some loaners there. You want a tux or a flapper dress, Archie? I’m call ahead.

[ And he’s off, skipping down the stairs to go fetch the car. Gonna go in style. A beat up, engineless style. ]

[ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh does he really need to dress up ughhh]

Tux, sure. Whatever. Where're we goin'?
