[ Finn doesn't exactly wait where he is. A few seconds to get ready later and he teleports away.
When Poe comes outside, he'll find Finn sitting there, waiting. He's exhausted, slouched a lot more than usual, arms resting on his knees, but something in his face seems to come back to life when he finally sees Poe again.
But he doesn't say anything. Just waits for him to speak first. Poe likely knows everything Finn could possibly say right now, anyway. ]
I wasn't sure that could happen so far away from the porters. [ Maybe if things had gone sideways, it still would have been all right in the end. Either way, the notion doesn't surprise Finn. It was his first thought, too. Just really terrible timing and a coincidence like that just didn't seem very... real. ]
Is the plan to wait, then? Or does he want to go back?
[ Poe sighed and then rubbed his face vigorously. ]
Hell if I know. [ Muttered, lowly. Then a little louder: ]
I didn't think it could happen either, but it did. And the death star is as dealt with as it can be, short of blowing it up. So what else is there to even do? There's no point going back. Akobi won't be there. 622...
[ But Finn could see 622's reasoning. If there was even a chance, however slim, that Akobi had just been left behind-... Finn doesn't think there is but he's also not sure. ]
Jacob probably knows more people going up. I'll make sure people keep an eye out. [ And maybe he'll go back, too. Who knows? ]
[ His jacket spoke otherwise. There were long scorch marks across it, where blaster bolts had just barely grazed him, and there was some matted blood in his hair. ]
... I didn't actually ask you here for that. I just... wanted to see you. That's all.
[ He wanted to see Poe, too, and the words make his heart bleed. But he's also exhausted and is well aware he can't act on about three-quarters of those feelings right now. Not to mention that Poe's still injured. He can't let it get to him.
He doesn't. Not visibly, anyway. A lifetime of practice. ] You said I could. [ Tone's flat. Even his eyes say he's too tired to argue about this. ] No powers, I promise.
[ He considers arguing, but he's also tired. And Finn promised. So with a grunt he strips off his jacket, and then his shirt after it. His skin is littered with dark bruises and a few long burn marks that match the ones that were on his jacket.
[ Finn puts his hand on Poe's shoulder tilting him his way so he can see better. His hands don't run over Poe's bare torso, mostly from knowing that he can't do that, but he still pokes at a few of the bruises along his side to make sure nothing's broken. The burns aren't good, but Finn can't help those right now.
Yet, he looks almost satisfied. Almost. His eyes flick back up. ] And your head?
I know. [ He'd been there for some of it, but at least he'd been there.
He gently prods around the wound, making sure the bleeding's stopped, and looks down again to check on Poe's eyes. If he used his powers, the pain to him would be minimal and it'd clear up in just a few hours. It's just smarter to use it.
It hurts a hell of a lot worse not to. ] We can get something on those burns when we get home, okay? And stop saying you're fine. The more you say it, the less it sounds like the truth.
[ Whether he believes Poe or not is left to interpretation. He doesn't. ]
[ Finn's hand settled on Poe's shoulder, sadness and fear finally showing through his eyes. ] I'm glad you're back. [ It was said already but it deserved saying again in person, softly like it betrayed all those long hours Finn spent planetside. ]
[ Having the Death Star literally hanging over their heads tended to do that, Finn thought. He felt like he had to mobilize, like the war was finally here just as he always thought it would be.
But he sighs instead. ] The weapon's offline, Akobi ported out- Even Ronan's... okay. Mostly okay... There's nothing else to do but wait.
[ And then grimaces. ] It's driving me crazy.
[ His hand doesn't move, though. Literally touching Poe just reaffirmed that he was here right now. ]
[ His voice was low, rough, and quiet. He just leaned a little more into Finn's hand until finally he was leaning over enough to rest his head on Finn's shoulder. ]
I just can't help the feeling that this is all going to get a lot worse.
[ Finn deflated, leaning back so he could still take Poe's weight with an arm around his friend. He wasn't really thinking about their closeness, though. Everything else was on his mind.
Eventually, after a quiet moment to think: ] How? The weapon can't fire. Or... do you mean whatever brought it here?
Yeah... [ He sighs and rubs his own hand over his face. ]
It is getting worse. Unless the OTO has their own porter that they can control, I don't think it's anyone's fault. Just... the way things are here. Like how we arrived. If it keeps getting worse, then... we'll deal with it.
It isn't how things are, here, though. We never had this kind of thing before... I know you're kind of used to it, because it's been happening since a little after you got here, but before Jeopardy? Nothing came in without the Porter.
[ ... That changes things. Finn knew Jeopardy showed up more or less shortly before he arrived. Since no one was panicking, he-... Well, that was an error in judgment.
His shoulders slump, leaning more into Poe. ]
This is bad, then... Maybe the problem is Jeopardy. What if it didn't come from the Porters? What if it was put here by someone to bring other things in?

... Hey, buddy.

Any idea what happened to Akobi?

Ported out, I'm pretty sure. I was pretty sure of that from the get go, but-- 622 wouldn't leave without him.
And I wasn't about to leave him behind.

I'm fine, Finn. I promise. I've been through a hell of a lot worse than this.

Yeah. Okay. Fine was probably an exaggeration.

... Yeah, more just trying to convince myself, really. [ Muttered lowly. ] But I'm not hurt is what I mean.

The Death Star, the weird animals that were popping up, Jeopardy... I have no idea what the hell is going on and it just seems to be getting worse.

I don't know. I'm sorry, I wish I had any idea how any of this worked but it's all completely beyond me.
