[ It's been a week since Poe Dameron ported out, and a courier arrives. At home, at work, it doesn't matter - they've been told where best to find the person in question.
The instructions were for these deliveries to be made one month following his confirmed port out. Obviously, someone got their wires crossed. So the courier hands over a tape, with a name written in Poe's clear, blocky handwriting. ]
[ This one reads: “Finn”, and underneath it: From Poe.
If Finn watches the tape, they will find the following message recorded:
Poe is seated in an office building, somewhere, an empty room which must have big windows based on how well he's lit. He's seated at a table with a bunch of papers in front of him, dressed in his usual leather jacket, frowning at something he's reading before he looks up. ]
Hey, Finn. So if you get this message, that means I’m gone, and probably for good, this time. Sorry. Trust me, if I had any choice in the matter, I’d want to be on Earth, right now. But, well. Obviously it wasn’t my choice.
Base One is in yours and Bodhi’s names on my will. So, do whatever you like with it. It’s your home. I mean, I hope you feel like it is. But it is now, officially, under law. So, enjoy that.
[ He pauses, looking away, obviously debating what to say. ]
I’m sorry for making your life so complicated, here on earth. I should have just been honest from the start - I tried to be, but lying by omission is still lying. I just wanted you to be able to start fresh, you know? Enjoy your life here without my baggage just hanging over you. But, uh, failed at that.
Maybe if I come back and I don’t remember we can fresh start for real. I hope not. I mean- I hope I just come back and remember everything because there are a lot of things I just - I just don’t want to forget.
You get all my stuff, because well - I mean, of everyone here, I guess it just makes the most sense that it’d be you. If I knew Rey better, maybe. But the three of us? We’re the resistance, here. And the Resistance is my family, so... yeah. Your home, my home. Same thing.

He had gotten the tape a little while ago from some man he didn't know. It had been suspicious on those grounds alone. Still, he'd been curious enough to watch it but didn't entirely know what it was until Poe himself spelled it out. ]
Dick. [ Finn muttered to himself, elbows balanced on his knees, hands smoothing through his short hair. Suddenly, he was pretty pissed with Poe. This whole thing was bullshit. He hadn't wanted to face that the other may be gone for good and now-
With a huff, he turns the message back on, watching it with a sidelong glare and otherwise blank facade. A lot of the points hit hard. Base One belonging to him and Bodhi. Another apology. Starting fresh. Getting all his things. By the end of it, Finn's just staring at the floor with a clenched jaw.
Poe doesn't tell him to not watch the second part, so he leaves the video going while he tries to figure out what the hell all that meant. He'd really rather not rewatch it, even if his head was roaring too much for him to really process anything. Regardless, when the second part begins, Finn finally looks at the video again. ]
Ignore it. The past is what it is, and you should focus on the future.
[ He's right. He's exactly right, and Finn's lips sneer into a disgusted frown. It doesn't last long. ]
