ABOUT FINN
FN-2187 was a stormtrooper serving in the First Order until he couldn't stand the injustice of their rule. After one of his squadmates die, 2187 rescues Poe Dameron from the clutches of the Order and finally escapes the brutal regime. He's given a name, Finn, and quickly begins helping to protect and defend the galaxy against those who seek to oppress.He listens and observes but stands up for what he believes in, for what's right, and does what he thinks is best when others don't agree. The people he cares about matters more to him than anything else in the galaxy, and he's willing to go to unrealistic or morally ambiguous lengths to keep them safe. He dreams of being far away from the war, surrounded by his loved ones, in peace. A part of him knows it'll never come to pass.
FIRST IMPRESSION
Finn might seem overly serious to people who first encounter him. A guy who knows what he's doing, who's ready to get things done, who might be willing to brawl at the drop of a hat. He looks like someone who's confident, comfortable in their skin, who shouldn't be messed with. On closer inspection, most of these are outright lies.He marvels at the world around him, treating every new sight and experience like a gift. He'll have that tourist effect, getting excited and delighted easily. He can also be flustered, though. Usually, his fake bravado can be really obvious, and he comes across as timid yet brave. Social interaction is still something he's getting a grasp on, and understanding other people who don't say what they mean can make him frustrated and result in more floundering.
APPEARANCE
He's not exactly a tall man at 5'9" but he's certainly handsome. Finn doesn't think so but he is. His skin, hair, and eyes are dark, a wonderful contrast against his beaming smile. He's also fit, all part of the war-hero package. He dresses comfortable but practically, experimenting with styles but not going very overboard with it. There is a long scar on his back and a short one on his shoulder, courtesy of Kylo Ren.

PERSONALITY
Six Traits: Loyal to those he cares about far more than he probably should be. Honest only because he's a terrible liar even when he tries. Brave when he absolutely needs to be. Curious about everything due to his practically sterile upbringing. Logical to the point of almost being cold if it means protecting his friends. Scared and anxious and panicked about the new life he's trying to forge when nothing ever seems to slow down.Major Event: Finn's most defining moment was leaving the First Order. Even the conscious decision to leave is pretty huge for a stormtrooper in this era, but succeeding is a complete slap in the face of everything the Order stands for. His entire childhood under their rule has molded him into the person he is, which is surprisingly gentle and affectionate once he realized that he lived in a world lacking those aspects.
Motivations: Firstly, to protect and help those he cares about. Secondly, to destroy the First Order and ensure that they'll never be able to do to another child what they did to him. Thirdly, reluctantly, revenge.
Impression to Others: Supporters of the First Order (if they know he exists and what he's done) see him as a traitor to their greater cause. He's also an incredibly dangerous symbol to them, as a walking mark of freedom. Supporters of the Resistance and Republic see him as a hero. He's the guy that broke conditioning to destroy Starkiller Base. Some probably have suspicions about him, given his past, but most look up to him. Finn has no idea what to make of the Resistance's interpretation of him as he's just trying to survive and maybe figure out who is and who he wants to be. He embraces the First Order interpretation. Though he doesn't like being called a traitor, he proudly wears the title of Rebel Scum.
Handling Conflict: Run away, mostly. Fighting to survive is how Finn operates. He has no hang-ups about turning tail for his life unless it meant sacrificing someone else. However, if running was not an option, Finn stands his ground and fights. In a non-combat scenario, Finn takes on conflict with a cool glare, thinks his words through carefully before speaking if he thinks he needs to speak at all, and follows through with his own actions if he must. He remains professional and level-headed when angry.

RELATIONSHIPS
REY
One of his first friends, Finn came back to the war after disserting to save her. He thinks of her ashis best friend and missed her dearly while she was away on Ahch-To. They learn the world around
them together, on equal ground with social interaction. The friends that judge together, stay together.
POE DAMERON
His other first friend, Finn saved Poe from death only to immediately lose him. After finding Poeagain, he's more or less stuck close to him. They understand each other as soldiers of an infinite
war, but Finn also learns a lot from Poe, too. Just about the most selfless person he knows.
ROSE TICO
Rose is a bit geeky, quirky, but he likes her a lot. They get along on a whole other level, bondingover their mutual awkwardness around others. But Rose just does what she wants, goes where life
takes her, so Finn's taken to learning from her. The two shared a kiss on Crait, but with everything
happening so fast, Finn's not entirely sure how he feels yet.
HAN SOLO
As a general and war hero of the Rebellion, Han was an inspiration and legend to Finn. When theymet, in typical Han fashion, he put a quick damper on that nonsense, though Finn still refers to him
as Solo. He was witness to Han's death on Starkiller alongside Rey and Chewbacca. Finn considers
Han a father figure.
KYLO REN
Leader of the Knights of Ren and now Supreme Leader of the First Order, Ren is an archnemesis ofFinn's. Considered a traitor by the First Order, Finn and Ren shared a lightsaber duel on Starkiller.
Finn lost but survived with scars of the event.
CAPTAIN PHASMA
A mentor to him in the First Order, Phasma is now one of Finn's archnemesis. She is often uncaringand indifferent to the troopers, ultimately leading up to the death of one of his squadmates. Finn and
Phasma fought on the mega-class Star Dreadnought, The Supremacy, where it is believed she died.
SQUADMATES
FN-2199 (Nines), FN-2000 (Zeroes), and FN-2003 (Slip) made up Finn's squad in the First Order.There was no comradery between them, no friendship. Finn looked out for Slip even though the
others, including Slip himself, didn't want him to intervene if one was left behind. Slip died during the
firefight by Poe on Jakuu, prompting Finn to leave the Order. Nines died in a fight with Finn on
Takodana by Han Solo. Zeroes' status remains unknown.
HISTORY
FN-2187 was a really terrible stormtrooper.This isn't to say he wasn't good at his job. Still a cadet, 2187 was the leader of his four-man squad, incredible at tactics, and great in combat whether that be melee or firearms. He obeyed his superiors, excelled in lessons, and made sure everyone on his team made it through every simulation. Yet, 2187 was an outcast. He didn't talk much and his need to make sure all of his troops made it through the simulations began to put them behind other squads. Even worse, he didn't have a nickname. Once other stormtroopers saw you as one of their own, they'd give you a name to shorten the monotony that was your designation, but the only nickname he ever got was 87.
His squad consisted of three other men: FN-2199 (Nines), FN-2000 (Zeroes), and FN-2003 (Slip). Slip's nickname came from the fact that he kept slipping up, dragging the team down, and 2187 was always there to get him out of it and make him better for the future. Nines and Zeroes hated Slip and so did their commander, Captain Phasma. She ordered 2187 to begin leaving those that were already left behind, though he had no mind to do so despite the fact that even Slip was beginning to agree and was ungrateful for the help.This is where FN-2187 became a bad stormtrooper. He began to doubt.
The First Order had taken him and every other stormtrooper from their homes when they were very young, too young to remember, and brainwashed them all into believing that the Order would bring law to a lawless galaxy, save civilians who could not save themselves, and allow Supreme Leader Snoke to reign as rightful ruler. FN-2187 and every other stormtrooper he had ever heard of believed these truths completely. Only, how could the First Order be so good for the galaxy if they were so willing to let one of their own die? He couldn't voice his concerns - any show of doubt would lead one to reconditioning - so he let it sit with him and vowed to continue helping Slip.
But then there was Pressy's Tumble, an asteroid field under control of the First Order being used as a mining facility. There was a revolt among the miners, and FN-2187's squad was sent to keep the peace. At Pressy's Tumble, 2187 saw the conditions that the miners were forced to live under, realizing that they were doing none of this voluntarily. When commanded to shoot and kill a negotiator, FN-2187 did nothing. He didn't fire but he watched his squad kill the innocent man.
Instead of being reprimanded, Captain Phasma awarded the squad with promotions to be stormtroopers in full and expected FN-2187 to fire on the enemy if he were in a real mission in a real life or death situation. Thus, the squad was sent on their first official mission to Jakku where Slip died in a fire fight. 2187 panicked and hid throughout the rest of the battle while the First Order rounded up what was left of the villagers. When ordered to fire on them, again, 2187 did nothing.
Finn. I'm gonna call you Finn.
It had been made readily apparent that he was not on the side of good. He wasn't entirely sure that there was even a good side at all but he couldn't stand the thought of remaining with the First Order. He had to escape or die trying. Failure to leave was simply not an option.So, FN-2187 heard that they had captured a Resistance pilot from the skirmish on Jakku. He freed the pilot, Poe Dameron, and the two hatched a plan to escape with a TIE Fighter. When Poe asked his name, he seemed shocked at the designation and said, "Finn. I'm gonna call you Finn. Is that all right?"
Finn. A real name. A real person. No longer a serial number. And this guy that he met not five minutes prior just gave it to him like it was the simplest thing in the galaxy. Finn was grateful.
After that, things got a little hectic. There was no stopping for days until Finn was hanging out with what was left of the Resistance and his friends on board the Millennium Falcon, trying like hell to hold on to hope.
The thing is, Finn had wanted to run and leave the entire war behind, find a simpler life, get away from the galaxy's drama. It was only after things became personal that he did a turn and ran straight in. Rey being captured by the First Order led him to infiltrate Starkiller Base. Her being in danger and his distraught over Han's death lead Finn to fight Kylo Ren in a battle he knew he'd lose. Finn even went so far as to attempt abandoning the Resistance during an attack out of fear that they would be made bait to a trap set for Rey and Luke Skywalker.
It was his adventure to Canto Bight and his meeting with DJ that truly changed his mind. Yes, Finn prioritized his friends above all else. He knew what they were capable of, trusted them to hold their own, and fought for them if he thought it necessary. Yet it was DJ that made him realize that there was no running from the war as there were First Order sympathizers all over the galaxy as well as those loyal to the Resistance and Republic. He realized that some people fought for both sides or just picked whichever was more profitable at the time. He realized that the fight would never stop if he continued to run and only look out for those important to him.
On Crait, when the Resistance was pinned down and the First Order was preparing a battering ram cannon, when Poe ordered everyone to retreat as the risk for loss of life was too great, Finn embarked on a suicide mission to destroy the cannon and save the Resistance. He was totally at peace with his decision, knowing that the lives of his friends and the Resistance's mission were far more important than a single soldier.It was Rose who saved him at the last moment at the risk of her own life. She made him realize that it was more important to live and fight another day, to protect the ones he loved even if that meant living. She then kissed him and passed out.
Finn was quite shocked about the kissing part. Actually, he was shocked about the whole thing, but he got Rose back to the Resistance and the two lived to continue the fight.
Finn is loyal to those he loves and excited to experience anything new, but he is also a logical man with the ability to make very difficult decisions if needed. He's honest, brave, curious, and scared. At his heart, Finn's a good person but has just as many faults as anyone else. He never asked for the hero position or to be thrown into a war and he very much looks forward to the day that he can just stretch out in the sun and take a nap.
Until that day, Finn fights alongside his friends to destroy the First Order, partly to free the galaxy from their tyranny and partly for revenge.
