★ Character Information ★
Character Name: Finn
Character Age: ~25
Character Species: Human
Current Health: Alive, uninjured
Outfit: Generally normal clothes. Probably t-shirt and ripped jeans since he was last here in the spring/summer.

Character Canon: Star Wars
Link to History: Wookieepedia
Canon Point: Post-The Rise of Skywalker
Canon Iteration: Ximilia CRAU / Folkmore CRAU
Canon Iteration Explanation:
The summation is that Finn fell in love. With that relationship and the friendship of others who aren't used to war, he's learned that sacrifices don't always have to be made and he doesn't always have to put everything on his shoulders. It's still a learning process, now coupled with some depression over losing his lover, but he's still growing.

There's also the issue of why he was there in the first place. He was brought to the Ximilia space station by powerful entities called "orbs" that promised to undo his biggest regret. That regret was the death of innocents by his inactions as a Stormtrooper, even though he knew that undoing this regret could result in his own death. Over time, he realized that dying wasn't really going to help anyone and that he would like to change his regret, but he never had the chance to really think it through. As of coming here, it's assumed that the orbs held up their end of the bargain.

He also grew as a Force user. Finn found a kyber crystal and made his own lightsaber, as well as mastered some small techniques (lifting a few objects, feeling other's thoughts, etc). However, after his lover left the Ximilia, Finn found the mental absence too great and has since shielded himself from the Force. He's untrained so his shields aren't perfect, but he still refrains from using it.

Update: That being said, he did get to go back to the Ximilia for a short time and tie up a few loose ends that had been bugging him. As a result of this and meeting encouraging people in Folkmore, he's beginning to get more in touch with the Force again.

★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills:
Close combat, sharpshooting, and use of a sword (especially a lightsaber but he's trained with both). Some cooking, too, if that counts.

Canon Abilities:
The Force is literally the life force of everything, connecting people together and generally attached to all things in the multiverse. Finn is Force-Sensitive, meaning he can see and manipulate the Force.

Through CRAU, he's learned how to move some objects with his mind and read others' thoughts. When he's highly emotional, his use of the Force has been known to grow more powerful and more violent. He's taken up meditation to control himself. Recently, he's begun to block himself from feeling the Force, so while he can make use of it, those moments will probably be few and far between.

As an aside, I'm going to ask permission of players before I use anything like this on their characters. I also have opt-outs set up, too.

Role:
Legend

Role Qualities/Attributes:
His wings will be bright and colorful, resembling that of stained glass but still soft to the touch. Later on in the game, he may have a halo appear once in a while, but I'm planning for that to be rare-ish.

He'll also be stronger and more resilient, probably taking advantage of his new pain tolerance which was already quite high to be begin with. As far as the mentality goes (sensing others, swinging emotions), he's going to assume that's the Force coming out and try to suppress it for the most part. So he's getting a double dose of that stuff, pretty much.

Role Reasoning:
Selfless, generous, protective, kind, and considerate are all words that describe Finn perfectly. He lives to help others, to be a guardian and provide aid. While he may not completely believe he's a "good" person, he at least knows he fights for what's good. He does now allow himself to believe that he's deserving of nice things, so the image he has of himself has improved over time.

Regardless of his own perceptions, Finn is a good person. He's very compassionate and always tries to help others, often times to the detriment of himself. He has tried to sacrifice himself for the greater good and those he loves three times in canon and at least twice during his CRAU. While he has attempted to change his mindset on his own self-worth, he still views the good of the world to be worth anything. He wants everyone to live happily and peacefully, and he tries his best to reach that goal with his morals completely intact.

Option 2 - Questions!

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

  • There's a few I can go into depth on since so many are important to him, but the one that made him grow the most was from CRAU. As stated before, he fell in love, but the trick was that he fell in love with a sane person who isn't used to a constant state of war, that person being Jim Kirk. But the setting wasn't a peaceful one; there was almost always a crisis to be dealt with. Finn's used to compartmentalizing things in those situations, always putting himself last so that he can make sure others come out safe. However, Jim didn't care for Finn getting himself hurt or in trouble out of his own actions.

They argued several times over his behavior, mostly over Finn refusing to find himself as important as others, highlighted by the fact that he was usually surprised or confused when it'd upset Jim.

But he did learn some things that he almost grasped in canon. People caring about him means that they really care, and things that hurt Finn also hurts the people he loves. Taking care of himself means taking care of them. That sharing his burdens is something they want rather than something they'll tolerate. But while he's learned these in theory, he barely managed to put them into practice...

Either way, Jim, with little context on Finn's past, treated him as any other. He taught Finn that he had to look after himself for himself, that he had to consider the happiness of his loved ones just as much as their health, and that a partnership means sharing himself and becoming vulnerable. Not to mention being over-protective wasn't a good or welcome thing.

TLDR; Jim treated him like a person first and a soldier never, which made all the difference.

  • What are your characters dreams and nightmares? Do you believe they are more likely to obtain one rather than the other?

  • Finn's dream is to have a family. Maybe not kids really, but he wants a group of people that cares about him, maybe even unconditionally. He wants that attachment to others and wants to love them in return. It's happened somewhat in canon except for the most important part: peace. He doesn't want to have children that'll get swept up in war like he had. He wants everyone he loves to lead a happy life, and he would really like to be there with them when they do.

His nightmare is not only finding no end to the war(s), but also causing them in his own way. His past bothers him, makes him wonder if he's as good a person as he wishes he could be, and he's had to do things for the cause he isn't particularly proud of. Now, with the Force and refusing to cut off his ties to others, he worries what that could mean on a larger scale. The dark side of the Force isn't as far away as some may think, and he's terrified of the thought that he could be like the Sith someday, like the same people who took him.

What he believes will end up happening depends on the day and his mood. For the most part, he thinks his nightmare will come true before the dream, because the dream seems so far out of reach as to be completely impossible. Not that he's ever giving up on it, though, not really.

I believe he'll never truly reach both. While he wants that peace and happiness, he wants others to experience it more. Plus, he's known nothing other than being a soldier all his life. He'll settle a little in time, but he'll always be fighting one way or another. Unfortunately.

  • If you could give your character a Taylor Swift playlist, which songs would be on it and what would they represent about your character?

  • Bold of you to think TSwift isn't already on his playlist. Though, I mean, there's only one but a few others round him out.
Invisible String: This song goes into his relationships via The Force. Literally, invisible strings connect him to others. However, this also goes a little into fate and the strings he's yet to find or the ones he was surprised to find. Over time, he's built hope that his future could be pretty great, mostly because of these strings he's still discovering. One single thread of gold tied me to you.

The 1: Of course, this goes into the romantic relationship he lost and is still getting over. While he knew back home that a friend could be snatched away quickly, he got pretty comfortable in this case and is still learning how to let go. It's not doing incredibly well, but that process is going to be part of his journey going forward. And if my wishes came true / It would've been you.

Lavender Haze: While I recognize the song's about expectations of her in a relationship by those outside the relationship, it works with Finn in a non-romantic sense. His past is a seriously huge part of him and can be a hindrance around others who expect him to react or behave a certain way, especially when they don't trust him. At the same time, he's grateful for those by his side who don't care about his past and see who he is. I find it dizzying / They're bringing up my history / But you weren't even listening.

  • What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.

  • Mostly what we touched on above about no longer putting himself in harm's way or thinking himself lesser than others. While this has been a problem since his first canon appearance, it took him awhile to see the problem back then or think about correcting it. Through CRAU, he not only acknowledges the problem but finally sees why he should correct it and how to begin doing so.

It's still a struggle, mostly because he tries to do this for others more than himself, which isn't exactly the point. Considering most of the main people he was trying to change for are gone, he's going to be struggling with this idea of growth a lot more than he would have otherwise. Even then, getting over not seeing himself as lesser on a subconscious level was never going to be easy, not with the childhood he had. Hopefully, he'll improve in this way.

Unfortunately, Finn's going to believe he was brought to this game to expand his control over the Force, which he's been suppressing. That suppression is caused by losing his connection to Jim and trying to get away from the pain. So accepting that loss is going to be its own challenge even though that's not exactly what he's here to improve. But thankfully, these two goals go hand-in-hand. Mastering one will make the other easier. It's all about growth.

  • If your character could change one thing about their past, what would it be and why? Or why not?

  • This is a tough question for Finn. He doesn't disregard or try to hide his past. He was a Stormtrooper, and that was a major part of his life for most of his life. But while he doesn't deny it happened, he wishes things could have been different. On some level, he appreciates the experience he had, however messed up that sounds. The skills and information he learned through the First Order has been invaluable to destroying them and making sure their tyranny around the galaxy can end, so he can't say he wishes to change all of it.

When he's feeling more selfish, though, that's exactly what he wishes. To change all of it. He wants to know where he comes from, who his parents are, who his family was, if they're even still alive anymore. He wants to experience a life where the First Order never existed, no matter what that life would have been. So it's crazy to answer this question with everything, but that's the answer. If he could change the fact that he was ever taken by the First Order, he would want that for himself. Yet, considering what his past has managed to do for the galaxy at large, he wouldn't take such an offer.

Disregarding the bigger picture, Finn also wishes to go back and undo some of the things he did/didn't do under the First Order's rule, like not saving innocent life. Thankfully, that was his exact regret in Ximilia. While it took some personal cost, Finn's under the belief that at least this much has been undone somehow.
